Locals choose foodbank for Charity Foundation gift

Maddie Archbold (center) of Second Harvest Heartland, a regional foodbank, receives a $5000 check from the ACBL Charity Foundation. With her are Minneapolis Tournament Chair Patti Stuhlman (left) and Beth Dlutowski of the Charity Foundation.
At each NABC, the ACBL Charity Foundation provides $5,000 to the local tournament committee to allow them to select a charity of their choosing to receive the funds. In Minneapolis, the local committee chose Second Harvest Heartland, a regional food bank that serves 59 counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Second Harvest representative Maddie Archbold was on hand Thursday at the Minneapolis Convention Center to receive the donation, presented by Tournament Chair Patti Stuhlman and ACBL Charity Foundation Trustee Beth Dlukowski of Louisville, KY.
“Last year, Second Harvest provided 143 million meals to community regionally. We also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries. We are part of a network of some 1,100 local food partners who help distribute meals,” said Archbold.
“Some 75 to 80 percent of our budget comes from individual or corporate donors, such as this generous gift from the ACBL Charity Foundation,” she said.
